If you choose to watch the movie with a standard stereo sound, you can feel free to watch the movie however you would like. However, if you choose the epic 3D sound experience, it is imperative that you do so with headphones. Any pair of headphones will do. The reason is that the movie uses 3D binaural audio designed to play a specific frequency in the right and left ears - an effect that cannot be achieved without headphones. Also, let’s just be honest, the movie just sounds that much more awesome with headphones on.
